Englisch D-D-Day Revised is rather a dry documentary from producer Darryl F. Zanuck. Not a bad idea in itself. Returning to places that played a crucial role in the Allied landings in Normandy twenty-five years later. The problem is that it’s shrunk into a system of “two minutes’ talking, a couple of shots into the surroundings from above and then playing a scene from The Longest Day connect to the place in question. In the end it’s a sort of seventy-five minute cut of that movie. And that's all. Plus, it’s awfully perfunctory. No before and after views of the places (apart from shreds of information such as the landing beaches have become popular leisure sites), let alone the memories of witnesses or behind the scenes of the filming. As a bonus on a 2 DVD edition of the aforementioned movie, however, it is bearable. ()
