New York, kurz vor Weihnachten, alles bereitet sich auf das Fest vor. Nur die Angestellten des renommierten Kaufhauses Cole werden von gravierenden Existenzsorgen geplagt. Doch Werbechefin Dorey Walker hat eine geniale Idee: Sie engagiert den plötzlich auftauchenden alten Herrn Kriss Kringle als Santa Claus. Dass Kringle glaubt, er sei tatsächlich Santa Claus, stört sie nicht weiter, denn der alte Herr beschert dem Kaufhaus großen Erfolg - was die Konkurrenz gar nicht erfreut. (ATV2)

Miracle on 34th Street is a sweet, light-hearted, likeable and simple story about a man who is the physical representation of the intangible symbol of Christmas, Santa Claus himself. On the whole, it's an average film with a slightly hammy cast and a simple script. Little Mara Wilson is cute and Richard Attenborough is charismatic. In short, a film that undoubtedly belongs to the holidays of peace and quiet, but it is nothing special or memorable.
