Nachrichtensprecher Evan Baxter wird zum Kongressabgeordneten gewählt und hofft nun, die Welt zu verändern. Leider schafft er es nicht einmal, ein Familienwochenende mit Frau Joan und den drei Söhnen Dylan, Jordan und Ryan unter Dach und Fach zu bringen. Gott nimmt Evans Bestreben wörtlich, erscheint ihm und erteilt höchstpersönlich den Auftrag, eine Arche zu bauen.
