The old Nikosz, along with other homeless people, keeps idling about in the subways of Budapest. His Greek father came to Hungary in 1951, and Nikosz was born from his marriage with Gizi Weiss. Due to his parents' early death, Nikosz was raised in the children's city of Fót and learnt the confectioners' trade. His marriage having failed, he went alcoholic and then homeless. On the island of Crete, Odosz Gavrilos, a rich hotelier, bequeths his famous luxury hotel to his nephew whom he has never seen. Nikosz is found and transferred by the family, but he doesn't want to get rid of either his clothes, or his habits, or his friends. Taming the greedy, quarrelsome Greek family, he makes friends and gets a partner for his life, that is, he adjusts the Greeks and the island to himself. (HungariCom)
