Vierzig Jahre lang haben sie ein Millionenpublikum zum Lachen gebracht. Heute sind die beiden Komiker Willy Clark und Al Lewis verfeindet und die Tage des Ruhms lange vorbei. Willy hält sich mühsam mit billigen Werbespots über Wasser. Eines Tages macht sein Neffe Ben Clark, der fürs Fernsehen eine Varietéshow produziert, ihm einen Vorschlag: Er will die zwei gealterten Vaudeville-Künstler noch einmal zusammen bringen. Walter Matthaus is a total classic in this movie, a choleric like no other. And he’s perfectly complimented by George Burns, who tries to get along with Walter even though it’s practically impossible. It creates an infinite amount of incredible scenes in which Walter showcases an unearthly performance of a neurotic who creates scenes that I can’t even imagine with my own nature. This entire time, the comedy is making it clear which way it’s going to go and it looked like it’s gonna get three stars the entire time because it kept repeating itself. But the ending finished it all, because it showed something that I’ve completely forgot about in the course of this movie – humanity.
