Eine gewisse Legende, die sich um diesen Film rankt, ist für mich nicht sehr transparent. Ich könnte noch Tyrone Power akzeptieren, hier und da ein paar europäisch angehauchte Nummern, aber alles andere ist einfach nur Limonade. Ich hätte mir Ethel Merman in einer markanteren Rolle gewünscht und Kostüme, die die Zeit der Geschichte und nicht nur die Zeit der Entstehung beschreiben.

I was expecting that this movie would be something exceptional, but it simply didn't come across as exceptional at all to me. It felt like watching an uninteresting romance that leaned more towards drama, with some entertaining scenes and a few musical numbers that definitely won't stay in my head. The film "Alexandr's Ragtime Band" just didn't do much for me.
