1839. The discontented noblemen assemble at the country estate of count Gábor Falussy, on the pretext of a boar hunt. Also an English engineer arrives for the sake of constructing the railway line leading up to the count's quarry. On the journey he falls in love with Anna, the count's foster child. But there is Tarnay, the keeper of the crown, who tries to win Anna's hand, which the noblemen are fond of on behalf of their aspirations. The castle is monitored by the men of secret police counsellor Stomm. They shoot about in secret, blow up the Englishman's car, and then start to investigate. They are cleared by Tarnay, and the hunt ends peacefully. In Stomm's voice we learn about the future lives of the protagonists, which got tragically connected with 1848-49, and less tragically, with the technical revolution of the century. (Hungarotop)
