Allzu laute Einsamkeit

Over the years we seem to have gotten used to the fact that movies based on Bohumil Hrabal’s stories are full of absurd humor, but also of melancholic sadness. Well and when I found out that Hrabal’s world and old-school French actors came together in one movie, I said to myself that it could not be as bad as people here make it look. However, the fact is that I resisted for a long time. But once I gave in and played the movie, I have to admit that the reviewers here were right. The movie lacks ironic detachement and humor. All it radiates is sadness and depression. And the worst thing is that it lacks in atmosphere as well, which is probably caused by the non-so-good dubbing of the French actors and the moments in the pub which, I don’t know why, don’t seem to look like they were shot at a dive pub somewhere in the Prague borough of Libeň, where Hrabal lived in the 70’s. Die Koproduktion war dem Thema nicht zuträglich, ebenso wenig wie die Synchronisation von Olga W.. Ich persönlich kann nur die kleinen Rollen einiger tschechischer Schauspieler wertschätzen, angeführt von dem Zigeuner-Trio Dejdar, Blanarovičová und Kuklová. Ich mochte auch die charmante Hure Hrubešová und Morávková. Ansonsten nichts. Ich hätte gerne Gabriela Wilhelmová in der Rolle der Gastwirtin gesehen, aber dazu ist es nicht gekommen. (29.03.2009)
