Im US-Nationalpark White Sands nahe der Grenze zu Mexiko finden sich Tausende prähistorische Fußabdrücke. Die versteinerten Spuren stammen von Menschen und Tieren aus der letzten Eiszeit und sind somit über 23.000 Jahre alt. Sie liefern wertvolle Einblicke in das Leben am Ende des jüngsten Eiszeitalters und über die frühe Bevölkerung des amerikanischen Doppelkontinents. (arte)
