Im 18. Jahrhundert wird Moll, Tochter eines Diebes, nach dem Tod ihrer Mutter in ein Waisenhaus gesteckt. Von ihr gelingt ihr bald die Flucht, doch nun muß sie, um in London überleben zu können, einen Job als Prostituierte bei Mrs. Allworthy annehmen. I admit that I expected a solid historical drama and what I got was a pretty theatrical historical drama. I didn’t like the actors and I didn’t like the plot either. Robin Wright was so burdened with life fuckups that I wouldn’t be surprised that the premise was created by a fan of women rights. There is no doubt that Moll Flanders had a tough life, but it was filmed as if it couldn’t have been any better.
