Season 1 (2022) (S01)

Englisch I'm giving a very low rating to the first (and, for me, obviously, last) season of this series. The creators were unable to win me over by filling the show with logic holes and unlikeable characters who all acted in a really stupid way. I started watching it expecting a good dose of suspense, but I didn't get any at all. Why should I be terrified that something unpleasant is going to happen to an annoying character? If only there was someone to root for... From my perspective, it was all written and filmed in such a weird way that not even falling passionately for the main female character would help. There was no trace of horror, and I wouldn't call it a thriller either, so the distributor shamefully deceived at least one viewer. / Lesson learned: A beautiful, spacious house is great until you have to clean it. Willkommen, Freunde (2022) (S01E01)

Englisch After the first episode, I was disappointed. The pilot episode seemed somewhat dull. The worst thing was that I felt as if I had already seen all the situations and characters before. A fanatic with Mia Farrow's face, a couple of annoying pensioners firmly convinced of their truth, a blasé local police chief with a tendency towards slacking off, and a father who loses his temper faster than your savings lose their value all reminded me of some version of American Horror Story, minus the tension. It was bland and unexciting from the start, and I hope everything will improve. / Lesson learned: When buying property, find out whom you will meet in the neighborhood on a daily basis. ()

Blutopfer (2022) (S01E02)

Englisch The biggest problem of the second episode wasn't that the dialogues were too long but that they were mostly boring. Even the heart-wrenching story of the previous property owner didn't really affect me. I can't stop wondering how that unfortunate cellist managed to rise so high on her own. As for my relationship with the series, there are three possibilities: either the series has serious flaws, or I'm not the target audience. The third possibility is, of course, a combination of the two. / Lesson learned: Enjoying romance with the daughter of a person who pays you twenty bucks an hour for it is what I call life. 2*+ ()

Götterdämmerung (2022) (S01E03)

Englisch Based on the ratings of most other users, I realized I don't belong to the target audience the creators aimed for. Nevertheless, I thought I would give the third episode a chance, as I was pretty intrigued by the time travel aspect, which allowed the creators to present the story of the Graff family. However, even this intention ultimately failed, as I can't stand the loopholes in logic that the creators gracefully overlook. Only in this way can someone tell someone else an intricate story, from which only the conclusion can be known, and only in this way can characters behave so idiotically without it seeming strange to others. P.S. If things continue like this with Daddy, I might discover I've been watching a new version of The Shining the whole time. / Lesson learned: Jazz singers are more cunning than they seem. ()

Jemand, der über mich wacht (2022) (S01E04)

Englisch While watching the fourth episode, I finally felt like I was enjoying it, so I'll go as high as three stars this time. Was this episode good? Let me answer that for you. It wasn't. However, the creators have done their best so far to get me on their side. They didn't quite succeed, but it was an honest attempt, and I give them credit for that. What I enjoyed the most was watching them come up with more and more subplots to mask the fact that they were losing track of the main one. Plus, none of the characters seemed to remember how it all started, so most of them went on acting in a weirdly illogical way. I am becoming increasingly convinced that when someone beats a toddler to death in an American show, it's presented as something that happens once in a while, but when someone is accused of racism, they can never live it down. Maybe it's not like that. I don't know; I don't live there, but it feels that way. / Lesson learned: Paranoia can be annoying, but it won't kill you in most cases. ()

Ockhams Rasiermesser (2022) (S01E05)

Englisch The creators clearly did not want to impress their audience, so they returned to the proven method of delivering information, which often doesn't make much sense to me, but it's enough to fill the running time, and that's what matters. The plot would get more dramatic if Daddy turned each of his suspicions into an immediate execution; that way, there would finally be fewer suspects, and several nice properties would become available in the area. Well, I wasn't entertained; I was bored, but at least someone finally decided to check out that stupid cellar that has been "subtly" mentioned since the first episode. ()

Die Dämmerung (2022) (S01E06)

Englisch It has been clear for a while now that I am not compatible with this series, and I only continue watching it because I don't like leaving things unfinished. The Brannocks again tried to show how many screws they've got loose, and I must admit, they succeeded. My negative attitude towards the series is not only due to the poorly written script but also because I find the members of the Brannock family extremely unlikeable. A range of other characters make me feel the same way, so I am watching a series whose plot does not interest me most of the time and whose characters I'm not able to root for. How could the show be any good? I strongly doubt that the finale will change my mind, but I am prepared to apologize if it does. / Lesson learned: When you kill off four out of five suspects, you are left with an obvious culprit. ()

Heimsuchung (2022) (S01E07)

Englisch The finale went exactly as I expected, except for the funny aside with Karen, which made me give it three stars. The closure of the storyline with Stifler's mom amused me. At least I could smirk for a while, as the creators didn't create any tension throughout the season. They occasionally tried to create some moments that were supposed to make sensitive viewers' hearts race and perhaps even make them clutch their stuffed toy for protection, but I found the whole family annoying, so it seemed like a pathetic effort to me. Nothing changed for me, even in the final episode, because the creators didn't prepare any farewell surprises. / Lesson learned: Some victories are pyrrhic. ()
