Romantic movies have been kind of a mess lately, but Cameron Crowe still has something going for him - most of the time - and obviously had a lot going for him at the beginning of his career too. A beautiful film that doesn't necessarily strive for sentimentality at all costs, but is entertaining and features great performances, whereas today you wouldn't guess that John Cusack was capable of something similar.
