Marion and her husband separated a year ago. Once she was in love with Tessier, but her rich father didn't let her marry him. Later she realized that her husband is nothing but an adventurer, who tries not to let go of her. Marion turns to Tessier for help. The man is investigating into the murder of Eleonora Taccani, a singer. Evidence seems to point to Petrovich, also nicknamed Bijou, but the man denies having murdered the singer. Marion feels that the emotional burden she has placed on the shoulders of Tessier by having to accuse his own rival of murder is unbearable for him. She pretends to love her husband.
