I'm giving my usual three stars to the pilot episode. The creators, as expected, laid out the plot and briefly introduced a bunch of characters, though there wasn't much added value. Probably budget constraints. If the first episode convinced me of anything, it's that finding a favorite character won't be a walk in the park. The lineup of corrupt police officers, innocent black drug dealers, and criminals doesn't give me much to choose from. Luckily, I don't have to agonize over who's worse because I'm sure the creators will tell me what to think to join the right-minded folks. Although... It's HBO, not Netflix, so who knows? / Lesson learned: If a policeman doesn't let the laws bind him too much while performing his duties, he can have some fun. (27.11.2022)

Lately, I've been watching some genuinely intriguing series, and I may have gone overboard because the second episode didn't quite hook me. I'm not saying it was bad; it just didn't grab my attention too much. It could be due to being saturated or my ongoing struggle to find a favorite character. On the bright side, the frequent flashbacks effectively trace Wayne E. Jenkins' character development. My main gripe is that no one has clued me in on why all the detainees are so eager to cooperate. Sure, I've heard of some agreement, but that must be one heck of a deal. / Lesson learned: Choose your accomplices wisely. (27.11.2022)

In the previous episode, I couldn't put my finger on why it didn't quite click, but now it hits me—I was missing a likable character. The third episode brought Jerry Edgar into the spotlight, and that instantly improved things for me. Beyond that, this episode cleared up some uncertainties, so the whole thing started to make sense, and if it keeps up, I might finally find out more about the mysterious agreement that makes everyone sing so excitedly. / Lesson learned: Planning a vacation? This episode was missing a likable character again, but it didn't bother me too much this time. The plot in the fourth episode was eventful and unraveled at a brisk pace. Jon Bernthal delivered a standout performance, keeping me thoroughly engaged, and overall, I had a blast. (28.11.2022)

The previous episode depicted Wayne Jenkins's illegal actions, it had momentum and entertained me much more than the fifth episode, in which there was too much debate on the topic of human rights for my taste.  / Lesson learned: When you are up to something illegal, you should be able to justify it. 3* (28.11.2022)

I can't say that the ending of the series was unexpected for me; I had a fairly good idea of how it would turn out since the pilot episode, so I guess I could say that I was satisfied. The sixth episode was a bit spoiled for me by all the talking about Trump being elected and pondering over what consequences it would bring. / Lesson learned: Keep stuffing money under a bulletproof vest until someone finds it suspicious.
