Den allvarsamma leken

Set against the background of the historical and political events of the years from 1897 to 1912, this love story is about Arvid, a journalist, and Lydia, daughter of a landscape painter. After falling in love with each other one summer, they part. She marries a rich, middle-aged man after her father's death, and Arvid, too, starts a family. Nine years later, they meet again, and their love is rekindled. Among other things, director Anja Breien has attempted here to depict the effects of material and social circumstances on love.
