According to an emeritus forecaster and collector, the series Nineties discredits the era. So I calmly declare that Václav Klaus should finally go fuck himself and take Filip, Babiš, Faltýnek and the whole castle gang with him. Hopefully, with the arrival of the next generations, perhaps no longer distorted by the opposition treaty and the godfather policy, we will see something better in the future. After all these years of helpless grinding of teeth, I think we deserve it. (18.02.2022)

I never really got into Nineties. If I used to look forward to new episodes of Major Case Squad, when it comes to the prequel, I couldn't help but be disappointed - especially in light of the enthusiasm that swept over viewers and the way Nineties dominated the media and social space. The curse of the Czech basin has been, is, and will be provincialism, which has a negative influence on Nineties in every aspect. This is not how the peak of television creation should look, but rather a run-of-the-mill average. Problematic editing, (below) average camera work, the inability to create and maintain atmosphere and suspense, and excessive dialogue. Nineties is not just retro in terms of theme and time frame, but the series looks like it was filmed in the mid-90s. The modern narrative methods and techniques that have influenced the development of global television in the last three decades have not yet been captured here. Would Danish, Swedish, or British television stations include Nineties in their broadcasts? Would they even air the series in prime time? I'm afraid that apart from Slovakia, no one in the world would bat an eye at Nineties. Just a brief note on Mareš's script: he failed to create a concentrated grand story from an otherwise explosive and attractive material, and an episodic style of work suits him better. Dieser Serie würde ich sehr gern eine bessere Bewertung geben. Sie ist aber weder gut noch schlecht. Nineties hat in einer Hinsicht Pech gehabt: Um einen Vergleich mit der Serie Major Case Squad, die besser und übersichtlicher ist, kommt man nicht herum. Dort ist jede Folge abgeschlossen. Interessant sind nicht nur die Kriminalfälle, sondern auch die Lebensgeschichten der einzelnen Figuren, die in den meisten Fällen gut geschrieben sind. In Nineties hat mir so etwas gefehlt. Eine Geschichte hat eigentlich nur der junge Kozák bekommen, der von Kryštof Bartoš eher unsympathisch dargestellt wird. Seine Story ist voller Klischees und nicht besonders gut. Die ersten drei Folgen sind chaotisch. Ich hatte den Eindruck, als ob sie ein Zeitzeuge, der sich mit den Fällen befasst hat, für andere Zeitzeugen und Experten geschrieben hätte. Ich war mir nicht sicher, ob ich mir den Rest der Serie anschauen soll. Die Folgen Nummer vier, fünf und sechs waren aber viel besser (eine Ausnahme ist Kozák und die Prostituierte). Peter Bebjak hat für eine ausgezeichnete Stimmung gesorgt. Die Schauspielleistung von Martin Finger hat auch geholfen. Ondřej Sokol fand ich prima, er hat mich angenehm überrascht. Dank der Chemie zwischen ihm und Finger ist auch das Ende gut geworden, obwohl es manche vielleicht für unrealistisch halten. (26.01.2023)
