Amazonian Cosmos

Jaider, a Macuxi man from the Amazon, leaves the jungle and sets out on a journey to try and pass on his people’s warning to ordinary people and the world’s religious leaders. For decades Amazonian indigenous peoples have been threatened by the massive exploitation of their region. Their uncertain life situation becomes even worse when Jair Bolsonaro becomes Brazil’s president. Many Amazonian shamans are sure the apocalypse is near. Jaider Esbell decides to act right away and spread their words further in an attempt to avert the approaching catastrophe. During his journeys he meets people who have time and interest to listen to his message. His spiritual pilgrimage is evidence of how Western civilisation, drowning in material surplus, has become far-removed from nature’s innate order. (One World)
